DIY Love Birds Bridal Shower Favor

Birds seem to be popping up everywhere in home décor, fashion accessories, and textiles these days. So it’s no wonder that “love birds” is such a popular theme for weddings and bridal showers.

These affectionate creatures cuddle together as a pair, making them a great way to symbolize the soon-to-be bride and groom’s life-long devotion!

A “love birds” bridal shower theme also gives you many options for decorations–you can use bird houses and bird cages; natural elements like feathers, moss, branches and twigs; and any other bird motif that you can get your hands on!

And if you decide to help the soonly-weds “feather their nest” with a love birds bridal shower, this candy nest favor suits the theme perfectly—plus it’s simple and inexpensive to put together.

  • Cupcake liners (or small inexpensive bowls)
  • White feathers
  • Dried sheet moss
  • Egg-shaped candy
  • Drawstring bags
  • Cardstock paper tags
  • Scissors
  • Yarn

Step 1: Collect some small, inexpensive bowls—you can usually find these at the dollar store. (As an alternative, I used a few paper cupcake liners as tiny bowls. But you’ll need to keep a few grouped together so that they’re strong enough.) Then, arrange some white feathers in the bowls or cupcake liners.

Step 2: Next, lay down some small pieces of sheet moss and fill the “nest” with some egg-shaped candy. I used chocolate-covered espresso beans, but you can use any treat that is egg-shaped. Other ideas are peanut butter eggs, peanut M&M’s, Cadbury eggs, jellybeans, or egg-shaped malt balls.

Step 3: Place the “nests” inside drawstring bags. You can find these at party supply stores.

Step 4: Cut some small tags out of cardstock and punch a hold through the top before writing your thank you message. I also drew a pair of bird silhouettes with a heart in the middle to fit the love birds theme. Then, secure the tag around the bag with a piece of yarn.
