DIY Onesie Baby Shower Activity

Creating personalized onesies at a baby shower is a great activity for guests and results in adorable gifts for the mom-to-be!

Whether it's bibs, linens or onesies like we feature here, customizing items the mom-to-be will need plenty of is a great way to get guests interacting throughout a shower and provides the new mom with memorable items handmade by those who love her and baby.

Setting up one of these crafty tables is simple enough. You just need a few particular items. And as much as this station will be a place for guests to get crafty together, it's also a great way to decorate your space and reinforce the baby shower theme.

Take a peek at how we set our DIY onesie activity up and use it to inspire one at the baby shower you're planning!

In case guests haven't encountered this sort of activity at a shower you'll want to set up the craft table with a clear sign that getting crafty is encouraged. We took a simple chalkboard and used it as our sign. A color co-ordinated ribbon embellishment was all it needed for some festive flair!

Make sure you provide your guests with lots of crafty supplies to decorate their onesies. We found plenty of materials at CreateforLess.com that kept our budget in check and provided lots of fun decorating ideas.

Fabric paint is an absolute must for this DIY onesie activity and these ball-point tubes make designing easy. Iron-on appliques matching the baby shower theme are a great purchase, too.

Don't forget the basic materials either - pencils, fabric markers, paint brushes and cotton pom poms are a few easy supplies to get your hands on that will add a lot of fun to the mix. And don't just scatter them on the table either - display assorted selections in mason jars, coordinated glasses or other vessels to give your display a streamlined and cohesive look.

We went with a Little Monkey baby shower theme for our display and crafted a few different designs with that in mind. To get the creative juices flowing, we provided our guests with monkey-themed phrases like "I'm Bananas for You" and "Mama's Little Monkey" to use.

Guests don't have to be artists to make a design - encourage family and friends to work together, but let them know this is all about making something custom and homemade for the new baby.

As guests finish their onesies, have someone display them. We love the idea of a clothes line display hanging in the space.

Mini clothes pins are adorable for this decoration and simple twine will suffice for hanging. Order some themed fabric for the display and cut it ahead of time to embellish the clothes line, too.
