Easy BBQ Decorations

Dress up your summer barbeque with these easy BBQ decoration ideas.

Our ideas for dressing up a summer barbecue will make your space party worthy, but they also keep functionality in mind.

First, to pay homage to the all-American classic BBQ food the hamburger, we set up a make your own burger bar in the center of the table. Small barbeque themed bowls were filled with basic condiments - pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato.

This allowed the kids do the work of burger assembly and kept our hands free for grilling and other tasks, but it also created a functional centerpiece.

We placed a platter of sliders and each of the condiment bowls along the center of the burlap runner we had layered over the classic red-and-white checked tablecloth to create a classic-looking tabletop.

At each place setting we put short plastic cups filled 1/4 of the way with ketchup - it was perfect for instant dipping and kept mess to a minimum.

It's only a barbecue when there's a grill, right? The big focal point of our party space came directly from our party invitation, too.

We used a portable BBQ grill as the centerpiece of our focal point at the top of the table. We lined up a few of our cupcake hamburgers to dress it up and reinforce the hamburger motif.

Finally, metal buckets were used to mimic the metal spatula on the invitation as serving pieces.

Mini corn on the cobs and watermelon wedges were placed on wooden skewers. We stood them inside the buckets using a Styrofoam base covered with red paper confetti.

To recreate these metal displays:

  • Metal buckets
  • Styrofoam bricks (found at local dollar store)
  • Wooden skewers (found at local dollar store)
  • Paper Confetti(found at local dollar store)
  • Mini corn on the cobs, watermelon wedges or other BBQ foods

Place a Styrofoam brick at the bottom of the metal bucket.

Pierce either the corn or watermelon with the wooden skewer and secure the skewer to the Styrofoam brick.

Trim with paper shred for added color and a finished touch.
