DIY Gold-Dipped Vases

Gold dipped anything is still one of my favorite things to display. They are elegant, modern, and visually striking - all of the perfect characteristics for a memorable centerpiece. For this project, I recommend that you gather different sized vases or glass cups from around your house, or go thrifting for some if you don't have any at home.

After they are 'dipped', several pieces can work gathered together on a platter to make a large centerpiece, or you could line them down a long table as single pieces. These of course can be a vessel for any kind of arrangement but I think the subtle gold works best with peonies or tulips. I chose to separate these gorgeous tulips by color in each vase, to present a clean and fresh look that will instantly brighten up your party. If you thrifted the vases inexpensively, you could even hand these out for guests to take home to reuse. They feel so fancy and personal!

  • Glass vases of various shapes and sizes
  • Masking tape or painter's tape
  • Gold spray paint

Step 1: Apply tape to the top of the vase, leaving appropriate room for where you want the gold to go.

Step 2: Apply spray paint liberally (I used Design Master's Colortool Spray in Brilliant Gold and only had to use one coat).

Step 3: Allow to dry, and then take the tape off.
