Handmade Mother's Day Cards: 3-D Flowers

A cutout of the child's hand holding a sweet bouquet of daisies is sure to make Mom smile!

  • 1 sheet each (8 1/2 x 11) blue cardstock
  • 1 sheet (8 1/2 X 11) white cardstock
  • Cut into 8X5 for the inside of the card for the child's message
  • The rest of the paper will be used to make the flowers
  • 1 sheet (8 1/2 x 11) apricot or cream colored cardstock
  • 1 sheet (8 1/2 X 11) green cardstock
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • 3 3/4-inch yellow buttons
  • 2 1/8-inch diameter circle to trace around

Step 1: Fold blue cardstock in half forming an 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inch card.

Step 2: Open the card up and glue the 8 X 5 inch piece of white cardstock to the inside for the message.

Step 3: With a pencil, lightly trace around the child's hand on the cream-colored card stock and cut out with scissors. Glue the hand to the bottom left-hand corner of the card, along the fold.

Step 4: Have the child cut some long thin strips of green paper for the stems and leaves of the daisies.

Step 5: Lay the long green stems in the palm of the cutout hand and glue in place. Fold the fingers of the hand around the stems and glue the tips of the fingers down. The fingers will be bent, but not creased.

Step 6: Trace three 2 1/8 circles onto the white cardstock. The child can cut the circles out and then make 8 snips towards the center of each circle.

Step 7: Crease each one of the flower petals down the middle.

Step 8: Add the white flower cutouts to the stems and glue in place.

Step 9: Glue the yellow buttons to the center of the daisies.

Step 10: Open the card up and have the child write their special Mother's Day message.
