How to Transform Your Favorite Instagram Pics Into a Gorgeous DIY Photo Wall

Have a ton of gorgeous Instagram shots you've been meaning to get printed? Of course you do! Turn your favorites into a statement piece with this Instagram wall DIY. Follow the guide below!

Here at the Celebrations NYC office, we're always looking for a great project that will help bring color and personality to the walls we surround ourselves with all day. After all, it's much more fun to look at bright photos than white walls. The wall directly opposite of my own desk was in desperate need of said fun, so when I came across the idea of creating a statement piece using our own Instagram photos and some adorable pint-size frames, I couldn't wait to get started.

Step 1: Order Yourself Some Stylish Frames

Once you've decided to set your Instagrams free, you'll need to order a set of Tiny Mighty Frames. These wood square frames are the perfect size to showcase your printed Instagram photos and come in sets of 3,9,16 & 20. We went with the un-matted, white frames as seen in the product shot below.

Step 2: Order Your Photos

You know all of those awesome Instagrams of your smiling friends, delicious meals and gorgeous places you've visited? Well now you get to see them in all of their printed glory! You know, the way ALL photography used to be? There are tons of great apps out there that make ordering printed versions of your Instagram photos super simple. My two favorites are from Walgreens and PostalPix

If you prefer to use a computer, there is a handy site called Foxgram where you can easily order square photos for only .25 a piece. Simple sync your Instagram account and you're on your way to being the proud owner of printed square Instagram pics!

Step 3: Assemble the Frames

Don't they look pretty just sitting on the desk? These frames are super simple to assemble. The backs pop off and the photo sits neatly to each edge. There is also a helpful video over on the Tiny Mighty Frames blog with a few tricks in case a frame gets stuck.

Step 4: Start Hangin'

You'll definitely want to organize your frames before hanging them. That way you aren't trying to figure out which images go well together during the process. You'll also need a level to make sure these guys are sitting straight. We used a line laser level, which was incredibly helpful.

Other than that, the only necessary supplies are small nails, a hammer, a ruler and a pencil (to mark each nail spot). You'll also need a little patience when measuring and marking each nail spot but if you're lucky, like me, you can convince a friend to help so one person is holding the level while the other is making marks for the nails and hanging the frames.

Here is our first row! The first row is the hardest. Once this is done, having a point of reference makes the rest of the process move a lot quicker. There is a little bit of math involved to make sure each 5x5 frame is spaced evenly between each other and away from the edge of the wall.

Ta-da! Here is what the finished wall looks like. It was a SUPER proud moment. Not pictured: fellow Celebrations.com team member, Ashley, who did more than her fair share of measuring and offering words of encouragement along the way.

Step 5: Sit Back and Enjoy the View!

Hey, what's that over there? Oh, it's a beautiful Instagram photo wall that I now get to enjoy everyday whilst sitting at my desk. I've already received tons of compliments and "how did you do that?" inquires so the project was definitely a success. You can create your own in your apartment, office or anywhere that is in major need of a few pops of color.
